Advanced Online Tool for Calculating Savings Estimates

Martin Vereš has over 22 years of experience in financial brokerage. He started at Allianz – Slovenská poisťovňa, advancing to director with a team of 200 salespeople. In 2016, he co-founded a pension-focused brokerage firm. In 2023, he launched BezAgenta.online to offer transparent financial services without personal meetings. And therefore, he reached for us.

Our client's need was to swiftly adapt to legislative changes effective May 1, 2023, mandating that every young individual who finishes school must enroll in the second pension pillar in Slovakia. This requirement was reinforced by notifications sent to Slovakian residents, informing them of the need to select and enroll in the second pension pillar within 6 months. Should they fail to do so, the selection will be made on their behalf, with the fund being chosen randomly. At that time, Slovakia had 5 such companies and funds, with each individual being assigned a specific fund - person A to fund 1, person B to fund 2, and so forth. Consequently, this process led to disparities in the amounts held within the second pillar among individuals.

The primary objective was to demonstrate to people the nature of these funds, their growth trajectory over five or ten years, and the associated client fees. Transparency served as the foundation of the entire project. This commitment to transparency was one of the aspects that influenced our decision to cooperate.

To tackle this challenge, our client needed an online solution to make the calculation and enrollment process easier. They aimed to serve the large number of people seeking help and guidance by meeting this requirement.

We crafted an online platform for calculating the yield and forecasting of the second pension pillar in compliance with the regulations set forth by the National Bank of Slovakia. Our solution addressed the client's pressing need to anticipate the increasing demand among young individuals for information and services related to pension enrollment. Additionally, it facilitated comparisons between different funds and companies, pioneering the online entry into the second pension pillar in Slovakia.

On the project, our team included a project manager, a software architect, software engineers, and UX/UI designers. The primary goal was to understand the entire calculation process as the client desired to make the user's experience with the tool as intuitive as possible, allowing them to quickly and easily navigate the calculator to get the needed information.

This project also included external collaborations. For example, we cooperated with a Slovak agency focused on usability testing. They typically placed individuals in a room and observed how they interacted with the application and solution we developed. This process aimed to determine if users could effectively use the application and understand how they utilized it.

Our solution enabled the client to capture a large audience of individuals who were seeking information about enrolling in the second pillar at that time. The online calculator was deployed as the first of its kind in Slovakia and remained the only one of its kind for a long time. 

Our solution as part of this project contributed not only to simplifying the process of obtaining information but also to education and increasing financial literacy. Moreover, the project's commitment to transparency played a pivotal role in establishing trust and credibility among users, further enhancing the effectiveness of the solution.
